Information for Presenters

Kubasaki High School

November 5, 2009

1730 – 1930

Dear Presenters,

Thank you for your support.  We look forward to having you share your experiences and college information with our high school students.  Please review carefully the following so that we can have the best possible event.

1.  We are asking all volunteers to contact their college or university directly.  Specific requests from an alum receive much better response than a general request from the high school or district office.  Therefore, we encourage you to contact your colleges and universities early to allow them time to mail you requested flyers and/or brochures that include some or all of the information listed below. The college web sites below may serve as good resources to link you to your beloved Alma Mater:

www.collegeboard.com

http://www.utexas.edu/world/univ/state

http://www.collegeview.com

2.  Regardless of what you receive from your college or university, you may want to create your own handouts and/or poster to have at the table. Information for your flyers and presentations might include the following:

  • Admissions Office Address (include email address, telephone/Fax)
  • Application Deadlines
  • Number of Undergraduates
  • Percentage of In State and Out of State Students
  • Percentage of recently admitted students whose Grade Point averages were 3.2 or better.
  • SAT and/or ACT scores of  Middle 50% First Year Students
  • High School Preparation Required Units
  • Advanced Placement Information
  • In State and Out of State College Costs
  • Housing Options
  • Campus Setting
  • Activities
  • Pictures (if possible)

3.  Internet access, projectors and screens will not be available so it is suggested that if you wish to use your laptop computers for your presentations, you should not plan on a live internet connection.  Your laptop’s hard drive or a memory stick (USB drive) is probably the best way to store your information for presentations.  Traditionally, talk time with students is much better received than watching video or slide shows of pictures on a computer screen.  They are a nice addition but not a good first source.

4.  If you decide to Volunteer, you will need to do so using our secure server.  You will need to sign in from the page you are viewing.  In the top right corner of your computer screen you will see "Sign-In".

Click on the words "Sign In" and you'll be prompted for a Username and password.  Your Username is "College.Night" and your password is "1234".

Look to the left side of this site and click on  "College Night Volunteer Sign-up".

Click on "New" to begin the sign up process shown by the arrows below!

Once you have filled in the appropriate information, you will see your college/university name appear on the College Night page list.  If you have any problems, please contact Kubasaki HS at 645-6888.

Thank you for your willingness to help today’s students become tomorrow’s leaders. We look forward to seeing you on November 5.  Now, don’t forget to write to your alma mater’s admissions office today to request materials!
